Effetti biologici
La letteratura scientifica attribuisce al Verbascoside molteplici attività biologiche tra cui effetti anti-epatotossici, antinfiammatori, antidolorifici e antiossidanti. Studi clinici condotti da ABR hanno dimostrato che il Verbascoside è efficace nel ridurre lo stato di stress ossidativo cronico nei soggetti fumatori ed ha un effetto sull’autofagia.

Lippia citriodora
Lippia citriodora è sinonimo di Aloysia triphylla, Verbena citriodora e Verbena triphyilla. Piante del genere Lippia sono state e sono ancora oggi usate dalle popolazioni indigene del Sud America e dalla medicina tradizionale cinese per il trattamento delle malattie respiratorie come il raffreddore e l’influenza, la tosse e la bronchite.
Le foglie di Lippia citriodora sono inoltre utilizzate come aromatizzanti in preparazioni culinarie o per dare gusto di limone alle bevande. Lippia è utilizzata in medicina come erba rilassante e carminativa.
Altri usi medici riguardano il trattamento della dispepsia, del mal di testa, delle nevralgie e delle vertigini.

Il Verbascoside (conosciuto anche come Acteoside) è un metabolita secondario prodotto dalla pianta come agente di difesa da parassiti ed insetti.
Il Verbascoside è un fenilpropanoide ampiamente distribuito nel regno vegetale, caratterizzato da un residuo di acido caffeico ed uno di idrossitirosolo legati ad un glucopiranoside ai lati opposti della catena zuccherina attraverso, rispettivamente, un legame estere e glicosidico.

Processo di lavorazione
La produzione richiede un tempo relativamente breve. In 6 settimane siamo in grado di produrre gli inoculi che ci consentono di far partire il reattore con la produzione di cellule in un metro-cubo. La crescita cellulare in questo passaggio richiede tre settimane. Terminata la fase di crescita cellulare dobbiamo lavare, estrarre, concentrare e liofilizzare l’estratto. Questi passaggi richiedono ulteriori 10 giorni. Al termine abbiamo un prodotto in polvere, confezionato in sacchetti sottovuoto e protetti dalle radiazioni luminose.
